The Shimano GRX RX870 wheels are designed to exponentiate the gravel experience, helping riders go faster, further, and have more fun. Wide gravel tires need a wide rim to maintain lateral tire stability at the low air pressures that we all love to run. Shimano studied this complicated relationship between tire size, rim width, air pressure, and tire lateral rigidity to optimize the GRX rim width for 32-50c tires. In addition, they pursued the best balance of rim weight, strength, and profile in order to deliver an exceptional gravel wheelset.
